My quick rating - 7.0/10. Somewhere in the cosmic video store of nostalgia, my 12-year-old self just did a cartwheel in parachute pants. I grew up rewinding the original Toxic Avenger on worn-out VHS until the tracking lines looked like snowstorms over Tromaville. Light Shop tells a compelling and beautiful story over its, in my opinion, too short season. The tales, for we do experience a series of individual stories that weave together but are each their own story, highlight the terrifying experiences we can all experience in the dark, and the warm comfort that awaits us in a warm bright space. These stories are told non-consecutively and non-linearly, jumping from one to the next, but that is a clear effort on the part of the creators to emphasize the scary, disjointed world the characters are experiencing. the queer undertones go crazy, but i’m here for all of it! what really struck me about this show is how confidently it leans into the tension between personal intimacy and supernatural horror. the relationship dynamics never feel like window dressing—they’re baked into the unsettling atmosphere and make the eerie parts hit harder.

I was one of those who wondered, how on earth do people _still_ get scammed by these con artists of dating scene; but the insane lengths these criminals go through to get money completely caught me off-guard.
A detailed story told by a swindler's victims, and technically the criminal himself, with the absolutely _harrowing_ voice messages he sent. Despite the length of nearly two hours, I was engaged and invested all the way. I felt the sadness, frustration and fear of these women. This is not your average crime investigation show.
It yet may be one of the best crime investigation shows ever made. Decently paced, meticulously accurate in terms of csi work as seen on the best shows without big spectacle or fuzz. More character building than most comparable shows. However, 2 episodes in and the criminal side gets way more screen time than I personally am comfortable with. "Nero" is yet another DEI romp where the male lead is quickly "throttled" from relevance by a, surprise, surprise mysterious and all powerful, nefarious, "one eyed" (bit of inadvertent symbolism there perhaps?) female villain.
Worse still, the overarching story feels stilted, awkward and frankly, rather boring.
Acting and sets are reasonable but in isolation, that doesn't fix all the things, I personally, feel are wrong, with this series.
