Siksa Kubur gave me chills — I was literally trembling and just wanted it to end already. The film barely uses jump scares, but every moment hits hard, unlike most Indonesian horror movies. What really shocked me was the bomb explosion in the opening scene — from that point on, the tension never let go, even though things felt pretty normal before that. Fantastic acting and it was one of those you can tell the actors had a great time performing. I am a sucker for almost all period dramas but this is top-shelf for me. Plus James Norton is absolutely gorgeous 😍

I'm really disappointed with this latest TV show from HBO. The acting is absolutely atrocious, and the writing isn't much better. And I never notice stuff like CGI, but some of the "monster" special effects in this look sloppy or something, like they were thrown together on an internet cafe computer. We literally laughed out loud at some of these "scary" scenes.
Anyway I thought it was going to be a somewhat serious horror series, but instead it's just a bunch of writers throwing goofy stuff at the wall to see …

Lior Ashkenazi and Ronit Elkabetz are excellent actors doing their absolute best with material that gives them nothing to work with. And yes, everyone seems absolutely thrilled about the extended sex scene. Groundbreaking stuff, really. Maybe it swept the Israeli Academy Awards because Orthodox Jews had never seen sex without a sheet with a hole between the parties? Someone alert the Cannes jury: sex has been discovered!
