Since 1964, Kader has lived in the Paris region. He chooses to spend the summer holidays with his family in his village near Algiers – a time everyone anticipates with deep emotion. The film follows their gatherings, reunions, challenges, and perspectives on Algeria and its people. It captures celebrations, weddings, and their eventual return to France. It explores questions of how those who stayed in Algeria and those who emigrated to France view the country's situation, their hopes for Algeria's future, and the complexities of the Franco-Algerian relationship, including contemporary immigration and the desire for exile. Ultimately, it examines the diverse desires of each family member on both sides of the Mediterranean.
