Description:
In August 1918, Matsuura Ito lives with her husband and three children in a coastal village in Toyama. Her husband is away fishing due to a poor summer catch, leaving Ito to support her family by carrying goods from ships, like the other women in the village. The women face increasing hardship as rice prices rise, making it difficult to feed their families. Their pleas to a local rice store for lower prices are ignored, and the cost continues to climb. An event prompts Ito and the other women to take action.
