Description:

In the second film of his Onomichi trilogy, veteran director Nobuhiko Obayashi tells the story of a developing bond between a young boy and an unusual elderly man. Fifth-grader Yuta (Takuro Atsugi), used to city life and leisure, is sent to his grandparents' home by the sea for the summer. His parents explain that his grandfather has been behaving erratically, exhibiting odd habits like eating altar offerings and attempting calisthenics at a funeral. With his parents busy and his sister focused on college exams, Yuta is tasked with looking after Grandpa. The old man takes Yuta on a tour of Onomichi, sharing seventy years of the town's history. As they explore, Grandpa increasingly loses his grip on the present, blurring the lines between past and reality.
