Description:
"The Invisible Man," a 2000-2002 science fiction series, follows Darien Fawkes, a talented thief trying to avoid jail. He's recruited by a secret intelligence agency and given an experimental treatment: a Quicksilver gland implanted in his head that makes him invisible. The gland allows him to secrete a light-bending substance, rendering him unseen. But the power has a dark side. The gland is sabotaged, releasing a neurotoxin that causes intense pain, erratic behavior, and mental instability. To stay stable, Fawkes needs regular doses of antidote, controlled by his mysterious employers. The series explores the difficulties of using such a powerful, dangerous ability during espionage, running for two seasons before being canceled due to budget problems and company conflicts.
