Description:

In early 20th century Bavaria, Mathias Kneißl, recently released from an unjust six-year prison sentence, struggles to find his place in the world. Unable to find work because of his criminal record, he turns to robbery to earn money for a new life in America with his girlfriend. But when a robbery goes wrong and he accidentally injures a police officer, Mathias becomes the target of the law. His girlfriend's betrayal intensifies the danger, leading to a desperate siege on the farm where he hides. Though he receives medical care in Munich for his injuries, Mathias is ultimately executed in Augsburg in 1902. The film tells the story of a man battling between societal expectations and his own desire for freedom, exploring themes of justice, betrayal, and the pursuit of a fresh start.
