Description:
Marzia, My Friend tells the story of a young Afghan woman in her twenties who, like many of her age, longs for love, freedom, and a fulfilling career. Her aspirations for peace and independence are deeply revolutionary given her circumstances in Afghanistan. Marzia’s personal journey becomes representative of the broader fight for Afghan women: the right to control their own lives. The film charts Marzia's life from spring 2011 to the end of 2014, a period coinciding with the planned withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan.
