Description:
Filmmaker Christophe de Ponfilly first met Commander Massoud, a key leader of the Afghan resistance against the Soviet Union, while making his 1981 film, "A Valley Against an Empire." Fifteen years later, Massoud, weakened and isolated, continues to fight the Taliban despite betrayals from within his own ranks. As he plans a new offensive, he reflects on his two decades of struggle and the history he has helped shape. The film also explores the influence of media and Ponfilly's own role as a filmmaker. Commander Massoud was killed in a 2001 attack.
