Description:
Inspired by a prophet's desire to see his gods, this film follows a challenging journey to a mountain peak and a confrontation with beings beyond human comprehension. This "lost" work by filmmaker and artist Peter Rhodes, active in the 1920s, was rediscovered after years of searching. Rhodes utilized silhouette animation, ideal for visualizing H.P. Lovecraft's Dreamland tales. His connections to the occult and literary communities of New York City, particularly with Aleister Crowley and H.P. Lovecraft, shaped his work. However, it was a personal tragedy that motivated him to create "The Other Gods: A Tale of the Dream Cycle," his most compelling film.
