At the same hospital, Almira and Susan give birth to babies at the same time. Driven by revenge for being rejected by Almira, Gary steals Almira’s newborn and swaps her child with one of his own twins, collaborating with his friend Kardo to carry out the scheme. Tragically, one of the twins dies during the switch, and the Del Valles are led to believe the stillborn baby is theirs. To ease Almira's pain, Gary convinces Amante to adopt one of his twins, and Amante agrees for payment. Gary then gives Amante a twin. Kardo, burdened by guilt, documents the entire event in his diary. Susan names her daughter Mara, while the Del Valles name their child Clara.
