LEWISTON (2002)

This film began as a teenage project, made with limited equipment in a struggling mill town. The filmmakers, with access to a darkroom at the local newspaper (where one of them's father worked), drew inspiration from documentary masters like Robert Frank and Frederick Wiseman, as well as independent film movements and online culture. They secured a professional camera and microphone from the public access station by filming a high school graduation they hadn’t attended.
