Description:
Sergei Bondarchuk directed this adaptation of Alexander Pushkin's story, notable for its visuals though less so for its plot. Initially successful, Godunov faces growing opposition when rumors spread that he murdered the prince to seize power. The situation escalates with the appearance of a young monk claiming to be the murdered prince's son, leading to accusations of a failed assassination attempt – a charge considered even more damaging. Adding to his troubles, Godunov experiences severe health issues, highlighting the burdens of kingship.
