Description:
Sydney Carton and Lucie Manette meet for the first time as they seek refuge in a tavern. Lucie, raised as an orphan and ward of Tellson's bank, has just learned her father is alive and recently released from prison after eighteen years of unjust imprisonment. She’s traveling to Saint Antoine, France with Mr. Jarvis Lorry, a Tellson's employee who managed her father's affairs before his imprisonment. They find her father at the home of Ernest Defarge, a former servant of Dr. Manette who has been caring for him since his release. Though her father is fragile and near to losing his mind, Lucie promises to remain devoted to him and dedicate her life to his recovery.
