Description:
Underdog is an animated television series that originally aired Saturday mornings from 1964 to 1967 on NBC and CBS. This early cartoon follows Shoeshine Boy, who transforms into the heroic Underdog to rescue his sweetheart, Sweet Polly Purebred, from villains like Simon Bar Sinister and Riff Raff. Known for his signature rhyming catchphrases – "There’s no need to fear, Underdog is here!” – the show ran for 62 episodes and continued in syndication until 1973.
