Near-death experiences (NDEs)—sometimes referred to as "out-of-body experiences"—are undergone by individuals who come close to death, such as during cardiac arrest, an accident, or a coma. They see and feel extraordinary things that are difficult to describe upon returning to life. A former journalist, Stéphane Allix lost his brother in a car accident in Afghanistan. Since that tragedy, he has been investigating near-death experiences and life after death.
