Thanks to Joseph for joining us on LEGEND. Joseph Fert was born in Malrevers into a branch of "The Family" community; he did not leave the property until the age of 11. In this community, marriages between cousins are common, and children are separated from their parents to be raised communally. In this episode, Joseph looks back on the manipulation and punishments he endured during childhood; he was subjected to violence and abuse by the community's leader before finally discovering the outside world at age 14. In 2021, he filed a complaint for acts of torture and barbarity, as well as for rape.
