Tuner
7/10 by Leno May 12, 2026
A tale with two morals: (i) one's disability might be what makes them incredibly valuable, (ii) wrong deeds will never end up well. The story follows a former piano prodigy that turned into a piano tuning apprentice after a disability that made him extra sensitive to noise retired him. Turns out his extra sensitivity helps him opening safes, which makes him the golden boy in NY's criminal world. Engaging movie with good acting, It didn't even feel that long!…

Ace in the Hole
7/10 by badelf May 11, 2026
Billy Wilder's Ace in the Hole remains a masterclass in cynicism, even if the world it depicts has shifted beyond recognition. Kirk Douglas delivers one of his finest performances as Chuck Tatum, a disgraced reporter who transforms a man's entrapment in a collapsed cliff dwelling into a calculated media spectacle. Wilder's direction is sharp, controlled, ruthless; the film moves with the precision of a man tightening a noose. What's aged less gracefully is the premise itself. In an era where AI generates content and the few remaining journalists on the ground lack the luxury of time Tatum expl…

Sting
7/10 by Dr_Nostromo May 11, 2026
71/100 A young teenage girl captures an extraterrestrial spider that proceeds to get really big and really hungry, really fast. Here's a creature feature I had a great time watching. It's a slower burn than one might think as it spends a large amount of time on the characters, which is probably why it didn't get very high ratings. But for me, the characters were all quite likable, a bit quirky and were dealing with real-world problems making the stakes that much higher. The spider effects were intensely horrific keeping arachnophobes like me squirming in our seat. Loved it! -- DrNostrom…

Significant Other
7/10 by Sierbahnn May 11, 2026
Human psychology is a hell of a drug. This is delightful. It is suspensful, well-acted, engaging and well-directed. The effects are as good as they need to be for this sort of drama, but most things center on great character-work, not effects of music-stings for jump-scares. I appreciate the craftsmanship that went into writing and directing this movie, and I wholly recommend it.…

Duang with You
10/10 by Dominic Kebre May 11, 2026
It has taken a while until I felt ready to write this review, and the reason is that I loved this series so much that I would have been carried away if I had written it right after the series ended. So I decided to rewatch it, and here I am, still loving it. Actually, my own “Duang love story“ had a bumpy start, because after the first episodes I asked myself what I would do if a guy like Duang were stalking me – a real life Duang might have ended up with a black eye. But after a couple of weeks I just couldn’t help fall for this good-hearted, jolly boy. In the beginning, “Duang With You…

The Rookie
7/10 by misubisu June 29, 2024
**Score: 7/10 — A Fun, Flawed, and Unapologetically Idealistic Procedural** *The Rookie* succeeds because of [not in spite of] its well crafted contradictions... It is a show that is at once deeply entertaining and profoundly naive, a character-driven workplace drama wrapped in the glossy, sun-drenched packaging of a police recruitment ad. For what it sets out to do—provide optimistic, weekly escapism with a beloved cast—it earns its keep, even as its disconnect from reality grows more pronounced with each passing season. **What Works (Why We Keep Watching):** The show’s undeniable en…

House of the Witch
8/10 by Wuchak July 5, 2018
**_This is one wicked frickin' witch (with a mind-blowingly artistic close)_** College teens in a Kentucky town set out to play a Halloween prank at the local "haunted" dilapidated mansion, but things go awry when the youths find themselves trapped in a life-or-death situation. Despite the TV-budget and no-name cast, "House of the Witch, aka "The Wiccan" (2017) is a competent, austere haunted house flick with, believe it or not, moments of nigh greatness. The basic plot has been around forever, as illustrated in those cheap 50's horror comics. Unlike the lowkey (and overr…

They Will Kill You

I'm not sure what exactly it is I just watched. I AM sure that if I had ingested some adult substances, it would have made more sense and I probably would have enjoyed it more.…

Revenge of the Necromancer
5/10 by Sierbahnn May 10, 2026
So much heart, played completely straight It is a ludicrous premise, and nonsensical plot, but it is internally consistent, played straight by its actors, and with enough tension to keep you engaged. I enjoyed it a lot, despite its shortcomings here and there. It is teen drama + scary stuff which isn't too scary or gross, so it is an innocuous watch, all in all. To fans of the genre I would recommend it.…

Director's Cut
3/10 by Sierbahnn May 10, 2026
Not worth anyone's time This is cheap, with unlikable characters, and looks more poorly made than it deserves. There might be a few good ideas buried down there, but they are not showing up in this movie, that's for sure. It is not worth watching, and I am not sure it was worth the effort of making it. Shame for a good idea to be wasted like this.…
