Description:
"The Story" centers on Ataru, a six-year-old boy who, during a game of shadow-tag, unknowingly proposes marriage to Elle by stepping on her shadow. Eleven years later, Elle returns to Earth to make their childhood promise a reality. However, Ataru has no memory of the event and is now dating Lum. The film follows Lum as she actively tries to prevent Elle from marrying Ataru, creating a humorous love triangle. Directed by Mamoru Oshii, the movie reflects his original artistic vision, despite producer requests for changes. For manga artist Rumiko Takahashi, this film is especially meaningful as it most closely captures the spirit of the original series.
