Description:

In 19th-century England, Dr. James Thornfield, a respected brain surgeon, is deeply troubled when his former student is wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Determined to save him, Thornfield secretly rescues the student, bringing him to a remote abbey in the countryside. At the abbey, Thornfield begins a disturbing experiment, using a drug called "black sleep" to study the human brain. He enlists his student's help, but the student and the daughter of one of the subjects discover a horrifying truth: the experiment's participants are being held captive and suffer greatly. The story explores the dangers of unchecked ambition in Victorian England as the protagonists face difficult choices and fight to expose the terrible reality behind Thornfield's quest for knowledge.
