Description:
During World War II, three German soldiers – Kraft, Hicker, and Stroszek – are sent to a peaceful coastal post on the Greek island of Kos after Stroszek is wounded. They are supposed to recover there and then rejoin the war. But the quiet routine of their new assignment starts to affect them, making them restless and eager for combat. As weeks pass, Stroszek is the first to break down under the isolation, his mental health declining until he loses his mind. This film looks at friendship, the war's impact on people, and the difficult connection between duty and madness, all set against a beautiful Mediterranean backdrop.
