Description:
During the racially charged early 1970s in the UK, a group of Black musicians in South London united by a shared passion for rhythm and a message of peace. Cymande, symbolized by a dove, blended jazz, funk, soul, and Caribbean rhythms into a distinctive sound. While achieving success in the United States, they encountered indifference back home, leading to disillusionment and their eventual breakup. However, their music endured, influencing subsequent generations of artists who incorporated and reimagined their pioneering style. From Soul II Soul to De La Soul, MC Solaar to The Fugees, Cymande's influence spread globally, prompting a reunion after four decades. This is their story.
