Description:
"The Forty-Seven Ronin," set in 1701-2, recounts the story of the Asano clan's destruction and the subsequent revenge of their former samurai. Lord Asano was deliberately provoked into drawing his sword within the Shogun's palace, a capital offense. The new Shogun, enraged, confiscated the Asano clan's wealth, leaving thousands of samurai and commoners destitute. Forty-seven of these masterless samurai, known as ronin, then united to seek vengeance against Lord Kira, the individual who had instigated Asano's fateful action.
