Imagination (2007)

Dr. Reineger, a renowned neuropsychologist, believes his twin patient, Anna, has a severe form of Autism that disconnects her from reality. Her blind sister, Sarah, experiences vivid visions strikingly similar to Anna’s, a phenomenon the doctor can't explain. The girls' father, overwhelmed by their unusual condition, abandons them. Seeking solace, the sisters retreat further into their shared fantasy world. When their mother dies in an earthquake, Reineger becomes increasingly involved in their lives, grappling with the unsettling possibility that the girls possess prophetic abilities. They eventually escape the doctor’s care, vanishing without a trace. The search yields no clues about their whereabouts. Have they moved beyond the physical world? Combining live-action with stop-motion animation and other visual styles, the film offers an imaginative exploration of the power of the mind.
