In 2018, a suspected murder-suicide in Mendocino County, California, resulted in the deaths of at least seven members of an eight-person lesbian-led family. Jennifer Jean Hart, one of the mothers, is believed to have intentionally driven her family off a cliff on the Pacific Coast Highway, into the ocean. The documentary *Thread of Deceit: The Hart Family Tragedy* examines the story of Jennifer, her wife Sarah Hart, and their six foster children, including Martin (19), Abigail (14), and Jeremiah (14), who were identified at the crash site. Authorities determined Jennifer had a blood alcohol level of .102, while Sarah and three of the children had been given diphenhydramine, the main ingredient in Benadryl. The bodies of Hannah (16) and Sierra (12) were recovered later, and only Devonte (15) remains missing.
