Description:
This is the disturbing true story of Johann "Jack" Unterweger, an Austrian author and serial killer. He was convicted in 1976 for the brutal murder of 18-year-old Margaret Schäfer, whom he strangled with her own bra, and sentenced to life. While imprisoned, Unterweger reinvented himself as a writer, publishing poetry, plays, and a celebrated autobiography that framed his crimes as stemming from a difficult childhood. This transformation earned him the backing of intellectuals and politicians who advocated for his release. In 1990, after only 15 years, Unterweger was freed – celebrated as a success story of rehabilitation. But was he truly reformed?
