Description:

"G.I.T. on Broadway" was a 1969 television special produced by Motown Productions and George Schlatter-Ed Friendly Productions. A follow-up to the popular "TCB" program from 1968, this musical revue featured Motown's top acts of the time: Diana Ross & the Supremes and The Temptations. The special, filmed before a live studio audience in mid-1969, primarily featured Broadway showtunes and originally aired on NBC on November 12, 1969. The title, like "TCB," was an acronym meaning "Gettin' It Together." A soundtrack album, also titled "On Broadway," was released the same month. While no singles were released in the U.S., "The Rhythm of Life" became a Top 20 hit for the ensemble in Australia. Two months after the special aired, Diana Ross announced she was leaving The Supremes to pursue a solo career.
