Description:

Set in Song-dynasty China, this film follows Wu Song, who gains fame as a guard captain. He becomes drawn to his brother's wife, Pan Jinlian, a woman who also attracts the attention of the powerful and dissolute Ximen Qing. To win her, Ximen Qing orchestrates the murder of Wu Song’s brother. When the authorities fail to deliver justice, Wu Song is imprisoned but escapes with the aid of the Liangshan bandits, joining their rebel ranks. Ximen Qing's indulgence deepens, but Wu Song eventually returns, leading an assault on the town.
