Description:

Paul McCartney and the United Nations organized these concerts to raise awareness about the Cambodian genocide of 1975-79, which resulted in the deaths of three million people. The concerts united three generations of popular musicians. McCartney and Wings, The Who, and Procol Harum represented the older generation. Queen and Led Zeppelin represented the middle generation. The new generation included artists like The Pretenders, Elvis Costello and The Attractions, Ian Dury and the Blockheads, The Clash, and The Specials, who were prominent in the New Wave and Punk Rock scenes.
