Do U Cry 4 Me Argentina? (2005)

Director Bae Youn Suk's debut film follows over 20,000 Koreans who immigrated to Argentina, focusing on the experiences of the "one-point-five generation." Following the raid on his father's illegal clothing factory, a displaced worker catches the attention of Duk-Kyu, a former co-worker. Their first date in La Boca offers a brief respite, but their unfamiliarity with their new surroundings is ever-present. The film explores the lives of young Koreans who resent the success of others, as well as the second generation striving for a future where their Korean identity blurs and a new identity emerges, forging ahead into an uncertain but hopeful future.
