Description:
Antonin, a middle-aged man, enjoys swimming and discussing life with his friends – a retired major and a canon – in the river. A summer rain begins. Antonin runs a swimming bath with his wife Katherine when a man arrives with a horse-drawn caravan. He erects a pole across the river and announces an evening performance by Ernie the Conjuror, a tightrope walker with a beautiful assistant named Anna. Antonin talks with Anna, and they spend the night together in the changing room by the river, where Antonin massages her feet. Katherine decides to move into Ernie's caravan. Soon, the major and the canon both become aware of Anna’s appeal.
