Description:
In the 1990s, HIV/AIDS arrived in the village of Wenlou through a blood donation program. Many impoverished villagers sold their blood to earn money, but 60% of them contracted HIV/AIDS due to unsafe equipment. The disease has resulted in numerous deaths. Wiejun Chen's documentary, *To Live is Better than to Die*, explores the effects of AIDS on rural China by focusing on the Ma family. The film begins in springtime.
