HIDDEN CITIES explores how we personally experience and perceive cities – what we call "the city." The city is a living thing, shaped by society, economics, politics, and individual lives. It holds human memories, desires, and tragedies in the marks on buildings and streets. This film investigates what lies beneath these visible signs, what cities truly contain and conceal. It's based on nine photo sequences by Gusztáv Hámos, taken between 1975 and 2010. Each sequence captures key moments of urban life, showing both human and unsettling acts. The photos were taken in Berlin, Budapest, and New York – cities with difficult histories marked by war, dictatorship, and disaster.
