Twenty-two years ago, a bizarre environmental event in Kanazawa Prefecture dramatically reshaped the land, creating the isolated area known as The Lost Ground. Kazuma, a young mercenary, struggles to survive in this challenging environment by taking on any job he can find. He possesses a rare ability called Alter, which lets him cover his arm and torso with a metallic substance. His life changes when he meets HOLY, an organization dedicated to capturing Alter users, and Ryuho, one of HOLY's top members. This encounter sparks a major rivalry between them.
