Description:
"The Magic Voice of a Rebel" tells the story of Czech singer Marta Kubisová, who unexpectedly became a symbol of freedom for generations in 1989 Czechoslovakia. Marta recounts her life, focusing on how the 1968 Soviet invasion transformed her world. Her involvement in the Prague Spring movement led to her being banned from performing and removed from the public eye by the Moscow-imposed authorities, despite her popularity. Rather than flee, she became a dissident alongside other blacklisted intellectuals and artists. Facing persecution from the secret police and betrayal by those close to her who collaborated with the regime, she persevered.
