Follow Follow (2012)

Inspired by Peng Lei's personal experiences, this film sees the artist revisit his punk rock origins to capture the rock and roll life of young people in Beijing. It’s the first film to truly showcase China’s vibrant pop culture, a previously unexplored area in Chinese cinema. The cast is drawn almost entirely from the Beijing music scene. The story unfolds with a focus on atmosphere rather than traditional plot points. Director Peng Lei, a key figure in Chinese pop culture known for his distinctive visual style and as the frontman of the band New Pants, is a pioneer in blending music, film, and art.
