The Delano Manongs recounts the story of Larry Itliong, a Filipino farm labor organizer, and the Filipino farmworkers he led in the pivotal 1965 Delano Grape Strike. This strike was a defining moment in the American farm labor movement and resulted in the formation of the United Farm Workers Union (UFW). While often associated with Cesar Chavez and the Chicano movement, Filipinos were central to the effort. Itliong organized 1500 Filipino workers to strike against Delano, California grape growers, initiating a long-lasting partnership between Filipino, Chicano, and other ethnic workers.
