Description:
In August 2012, miners at a major South African platinum mine initiated an unauthorized strike demanding higher wages. Six days later, police violently ended the strike, killing 34 people and injuring many others. Told from the perspective of the miners, *Miners Shot Down* chronicles the strike from its beginning, depicting the brave but isolated struggle of these poorly paid workers against the powerful mining company Lonmin, the ruling ANC government, and their allies in the National Union of Mineworkers.
