Description:
Karpotrotter is a road movie exploring place, time, and memory, and a tribute to filmmaker Karpo Godina, whose work was prominent during the Black Wave of Yugoslav filmmaking in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Forty years later, contemporary filmmaker Matjaz Ivanisin retraces Godina’s journey through rural villages. The film combines Godina's original 8mm footage with new landscape footage from Ivanisin's own road trip and interviews with locals who remember Godina's visit. Period folk music accompanies the soundtrack. Structured in five sections, the film examines the unique character of different villages, offering a layered meditation on the culture and people of this rural region of former Yugoslavia.
