Filmmaker Nienke Eijsink sets out to find her childhood hero and first love: Doctor Chris from the Australian TV show *The Flying Doctors*, played by actress Liz Burch. Nienke's goal is to bring Liz Burch into the spotlight and cast her in her first film! This coming-of-age story explores the draw of a TV drama character on a young lesbian, and the thrill of meeting a childhood idol. It also examines the challenges of growing up and the complexities that arise when fantasy and reality intersect. Using animation, blue-screen effects, archival footage, and inventive editing that blends *The Flying Doctors* episodes with real life, the film blurs the lines between what's real and what's imagined. *Fan* is a charming, moving, and thought-provoking self-portrait, filled with humor.
