Description:
The Iron Guard, a Romanian nationalist movement on the extreme right, aligned itself with Nazi Germany after gaining power and launched a brutal campaign against political opponents. On the night of November 26-27, 1940, the Guard executed forty political prisoners at Jilava prison (renamed "Viraga" in the film). The following day, two more Guard teams arrested and executed former minister Virgil Madgearu and historian Nicolae Iorga. To minimize public outcry, Police Prefect Stefan Zävoianu assigns the cases to Commissioner Tudor Moldovan from the "Morals Division," expecting him to fail. However, Moldovan, harboring communist sympathies, quickly becomes entangled with Bolshevik escapee Pîrvu, who had fled during the Viraga...
