Description:
The film explores the world of daphnia, tiny crustaceans found in all waters. These creatures, about 2 millimeters long, have a single eye that can rotate. They use antennae for movement, and a magnified view reveals the pulsing muscles within them. We observe their eye, nervous system, blood, and heart beating rapidly. The intestine is a long line, and all daphnia shown are female, with eggs developing above it. New generations appear quickly. Inside each daphnia live infusoria that clean the digestive tract of a deceased one. A hydra, a predator, approaches. One daphnia dies, but many others survive.
