Dandelion (2003)

A Chinese family from a poor village in Fujian Province relies on smuggling and arranged marriages to bring relatives to Japan. As undocumented immigrants, they send money home to their extended family, facing illness, arrests, and betrayal. They struggle to survive by operating a beauty salon and internet cafe, hampered by language barriers and visa issues. Back in China, their family awaits them with complicated emotions. The film, by a Chinese director, offers a look at the hidden side of Tokyo.
