In Gladstone's 21st Street gallery, dancer Raphael Xavier (Jack Tatum from *SECONDARY*) and Barney (as quarterback Ken Stabler) perform a duet that blends performance and presentation of physical traces. The work explores the repeated physical and psychological damage endured by both athletes, depicted through endless replays. Xavier’s markings on the walls are created during running drills while impacting a clay weight, but other gestures suggest deeper meaning. Stabler, one of the first NFL players diagnosed with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, leaves his mark using a metal barbell and clay weight attached to his head.
