Description:
Kalikangiaroi, or Skalapountari, are mischievous creatures from Cypriot folklore. They are thin, hunchbacked beings, sometimes with pointy hats or bat-like wings, and Cypriots have long feared them. Usually hidden underground, the Kalikangiaroi emerge only for twelve days at Christmas. During this time, they revel in pranks, teasing humans, scaring animals, and generally causing chaos for their own amusement. Their favorite treat is "loukaniko," a traditional sausage.
