Description:
This coming-of-age story follows Tom, a 14-year-old whose parents have recently divorced. He’s unexpectedly moved from his affluent Chicago life to Los Angeles, where he lives with his aunt in a retro beach bungalow, a woman who remains firmly rooted in the past. Unhappy with the change, Tom finds his aunt's bohemian lifestyle and his new classmates bewildering. His perspective shifts when he befriends Fin, a carefree surfer. Initially dismissing Fin as foolish, Tom eventually recognizes his friend’s depth. Inspired by the classic friendship of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, the two embark on a series of adventures, some risky, throughout the summer. By the season's end, Tom has matured, adapted to California, and gained a new understanding of the world.
