Kalina’s Apple: Forest of Chernobyl (2011)

Kalina spends her summer vacation with her grandmother in a rural Belarusian village near a restricted zone due to radiation. Her family used to live there, but her parents separated after her mother's illness. Her father moved to Moscow to pay for her mother’s hospital bills. While in the hospital, her mother tells Kalina about a "castle of devils" in Chernobyl spreading poisons. Kalina tells her grandmother, who dismisses it with faith. However, her grandmother falls ill, and her mother's condition worsens. Questioning why God isn't helping, Kalina resolves to go to Chernobyl herself.
