Description:

An octopus moves across objects on land – a doll, a skull – then flows into the sea. It releases ink. The camera follows it over rocks into deeper water, observing its breathing. Its eye opens and closes. Simple titles appear, in French and German, indicating what to observe. The octopus alternates using its breathing tubes on each side. Its skin changes color as cells contract or expand. Close-up shots reveal these shifts. Two octopuses fight, and one dies. On the beach, fishermen catch them and place them in buckets. A single tentacle still moves. Back in the water, two octopuses attack a crab. Eventually, only a few crab legs remain in the victor's mouth.
