Description:
In Paris, Ismaél, a young Tunisian, looks after his two brothers: Nouredine, who is disabled, and the resourceful 14-year-old Mouloud. They travel to Marseilles to visit an uncle, only to discover Nouredine has died in a fire, deepening Ismaél’s sorrow with guilt. In Marseilles, Ismaél befriends Jacky, a white man whose family harbors resentment towards immigrants. Meanwhile, Mouloud associates with his cousin Rhida, who disregards Islamic traditions and deals hash. Determined to send Mouloud back to Tunisia, Ismaél's efforts are thwarted when the boy runs away and becomes involved with Rhida’s drug supplier. As Ismaél and Jacky begin a forbidden relationship, friendships are tested and racism escalates. Will Ismaél find a way to save himself and Mouloud, or will the harsh realities of life in France overwhelm them?
