Since 1959, David "The Weatherman" Wills has documented his life – including random things like weather reports, flushing toilets, and phone conversations – broadcasting it to the public. With childhood friends Richard Lyons and Mark Hosler, he created Negativland, a chaotic multimedia project with no rules about ownership or privacy. Negativland's complex mix of sounds raises serious and humorous questions about culture, media, technology, control, propaganda, power, and how we perceive them in America. What is real, and what is just something we're used to? The project suggests that meaning is created by the listener.
